Biography

Arturo Villar is a passionate open innovation entrepreneur. During the last 10 years, Arturo has been working in management of global innovation for the industrial sector with senior competencies on open Innovation, co-creation, and to reuse and identify synergies from other sectors for implementing new innovative solutions.

Arturo is a key supporter of the European Innovation Council, expert evaluator of European Commission, PhD on Energy Engineering, and JCR reviewer of scientific publications on clean technologies and environmental issues.

Since 2018, Arturo is the founder and coordinator of StartupCity Europe Partnership “SCEP StartupCities” which is powered by European Commission. SCEP is a new pan-European network of cities with the goal of creating alternative hubs in Europe and for fostering the development of interconnected startup strategies at local level. The StartupCity concept is hybridization between startup ecosystems with innovation ecosystems based on one specialization per city and interconnecting these cities with their specific specialization into a hub with new business/market opportunities for growing the ecosystem and the economy. Recently, SCEP has been endorsed by the Commissioner Gabriel at the last Startup Europe Summit in Cluj-Napoca.
